I absolutely love changing around our home decor. If I bought everything I wanted from Pier 1, World Market or West Elm as often as I’d like, we’d go broke! When I get the itch to change things up, I like to scope out our local thrift stores to see if there are any cheap pieces I can upcycle to fit my design style. Luckily, I found a couple of vases on my last trip that inspired me to create a new spring tablescape.

Chances are you may already have some of these plain glass vases around your house…you know, the basic ones that come with a bouquet. If you don’t, you can find them at thrift stores by the dozens!

Because they are plain glass, they look a little basic and boring. I decided to spruce up three of the vases I found and then add some fresh spring flowers to complete the look. This was a super easy project to complete but adds a lot of prettiness to the table!

What you’ll need:

  • Glass vase(s)
  • E6000 glue
  • Twine

I chose three vases for a more impactful tablescape. I was lucky enough to find two of the same kind, plus a third taller vase with a similar glass pattern.

Start by peeling off any price tags and wiping the vases down with a wet towel. Make sure to dry them well. Once you’re ready, add a little bit of glue to the end of the twine and stick it on the vase where you’d like to start wrapping. Then, continue wrapping the twine until you’ve achieved the look you want! Snip the end with scissors and dab a bit of glue on the end and press the end into the twine so it blends in.

Once you’re done, add in whatever you like. I invited my girlfriends over for a breakfast party since one of our long lost friends was home for the weekend, and I choose some fresh spring flowers that coordinated with the colors on my table.

  • Table runner: Bullseye’s Playground at Target
  • Bunny and egg salt and pepper shakers: Target
  • Bunny ear napkin rings and table runner: Bullseye’s Playground at Target
  • Tommy Hilfiger paisley napkins: TJ Maxx
  • Rattan chargers: Pier 1 (a couple years ago!)
  • Mini green plants: Ikea…but the baskets were thrifted!

My vases were super cheap…$0.99, $0.99 and $1.99. I had the twine and glue on hand from previous projects, but those items are also cheap if you use craft store coupons. This is the perfect way to update plain vases for when you need something new and different!

Happy DIYing!
