beauty must haves_main photo.jpg

I don’t profess to know it all when it comes to beauty products…I don’t even know how to contour properly. :/  But even so, I’ve been using and testing products all of my life and have a few go-to items that I’m sharing here with you!

Screen Shot 2016-05-10 at 9.24.28 AMI never knew how important brow shape and color was until this year, when it seemed like EVERYONE was focusing on brows. Frustrated with the shape of my thin and wispy brows, I made an appointment at the European Wax Center. They only use hard wax (no strips!) since it’s easier on the skin and there is less irritation. I absolutely loved my first appointment and I made another on the spot. This brings me to the product recommendation…they used a brow powder on me following the wax, which was a first. I had previously tried using a liner in my brows, but it was way to harsh. The Browfection Brow Powder Duo helps to define my brows without looking like I drew them on! They have multiple options depending on brow color. If you want to check it out, they have locations all over and your first wax is free! Just let them know I referred you. 🙂

Screen Shot 2016-05-10 at 9.28.54 AMBeing the girly girl that I am, I love to have my nails done. But given my level of activity, I get really mad when I chip a manicure two days after I get one! Enter this next drug store product: Wet n Wild 1-Step WonderGel Nail Color. You read that correctly: Wet n Wild! I have come to love this product because it goes on so smoothly and evenly and stays for at least a week. To be honest, I usually don’t even use a base coat or a top coat when I use this product mid-week, and my results are still salon-worthy. Stay Classy is my new favorite nude/neutral color, but they have a bunch of other fun colors if you want to switch it up. At around $4.99 at Target and in most drug stores, you can stock up on more than one!

Screen Shot 2016-05-10 at 11.39.18 AMI have some of the wimpiest eyelashes ever. It doesn’t help that Alex was blessed with long, black luxurious lashes that I lust after every day! To try to keep up, I rarely go anywhere without my falsies! I tried eyelash extensions at one point, and while I loved the look, one half of one eye fell off and I looked ridiculous…and it pulled a lot of my lashes out with it! EEK! Instead of subjecting myself to that, I decided it was easier to just pop on a pair of fake lashes when I want a boost. My favorite lashes for everyday wear are the Ardell Natural 110 lashes and I usually purchase the multi-pack so I have a couple on hand. They aren’t overwhelming, but they give you a longer, thicker lash look. For glue, I’ve found that DUO Adhesive is the best. There are clear and dark options, and they also have a brush-on option.

Screen Shot 2016-05-10 at 12.23.57 PMNo list of beauty product must-haves would be complete without lip color. I will admit, I am a lipstick and gloss addict and have drawers full of the the stuff! Regardless of what I try, I have one product that I am never without…a color stay formula that is perfect under any shade of gloss. Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Liquid Lipstick in #1 Nude is dark enough to make your lips pop but nude enough to make it look like you aren’t trying. This color also looks great on multiple skin tones. Plus, it stays for hours, even after eating. I have some of the darker colors, too, including Miracle Mauve, Top Tomato and Premier Plum. #1 Nude looks great under most lip gloss colors, but I like to pair it with Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss in Super Natural.

Screen Shot 2016-05-10 at 12.45.54 PMDespite my Italian heritage and my ability to bronze in the summer sun, I’m pale as a ghost the rest of the year. I used to tan in tanning beds almost every day of my life during high school and college — GASP! — but I’ve seen the light and haven’t fake baked for years. Instead, I often get a spray tan in a Versa Spa at a local salon. In between spray tans, I like to extend my color by using a self-tanner at home. I’ve tried many over the years, but I’ve found that Jergens Natural Glow Lightweight Foaming Moisturizer works best for me. It’s easy to put on and I’ve never ended up with dreaded self-tanner streaks. I am also partial to Neutrogena Micromist Airbrush Sunless Tan spray if you’re looking for something that doesn’t require you to put a lot of effort into ensuring an even coat. Warning: this spray will dye your floors or carpet wherever you use it, so I recommend using it in the shower and rinsing the shower right after!

Hope you find something useful to add to your beauty routine!
