We have a small, concrete slab patio in the back of the house and it was a sorry, sorry sight. We used it sparingly in the past, but as we continue to finish our basement, we definitely want to use it more. So, to get it ready, we took on a patio makeover project to get rid of the drab gray paint look left behind by the previous homeowners.  Continue reading “DIY | Patio Makeover – Part 1”

Summer always makes me crave delicious pulled pork. It’s the perfect thing to make for backyard BBQs, but it’s also nice to have some leftovers in the fridge to reheat on those busy summer nights. This recipe uses the crockpot to cook the savory pork, so you can turn it on and forget it! Continue reading “Mangia | Crockpot Pulled Pork”

I will do *almost* anything for peanut butter. I love it so much, I sometimes just grab a spoonful right from the jar to savor! While you might not envision the salty/sweet nut butter on chicken, the flavors really do compliment each other…especially when you grill it. Alex looked at me like I was crazy when I said I was putting peanut butter on chicken, but he changed his tune as soon as he tasted it! Continue reading “Mangia | Grilled Peanut Butter Chicken”

This is one of my go-to recipes…mostly because when I ask Alex what he wants for dinner, this is always one of his requests! You really can’t go wrong with bacon…especially when you wrap it around chicken and baste it with honey mustard. 🙂 Continue reading “Mangia | Bacon-Wrapped Chicken”

Mangia | Healthy Picnic Foods

Summer is the time of year when we all want to eat a little healthier before hitting the beach or the pool…but, it’s also the same time of year when we are tempted with all the yummy (and not so good for us) foods at picnics and barbeques. Have no fear…I’ve found a way to modify a couple of old favorites! Continue reading “Mangia | Healthy Picnic Foods”
